Satimo Chamber

The majority of the products and services that we developed today have one thing in common: high quality and distortion free data transmission.

Antennas enable a wireless link between all kinds of radio devices. Superb antenna performance leads to high-quality long-range data transmission.

Our StarGate 24 anechoic chamber features a large anechoic room with a turn-table and 24 dual-polarized probes.

In this chamber we can perform measurements in the frequency range from 400MHz to 6GHz on objects up to 1 meter in size and with the maximum weight of 25kg. For example, our SATIMO chamber was used to measure the BT link for a 47-inch LED monitor.

If required, we have everything needed to perform measurements on a device in various user position.

Besides its size, measurement time is one of the main advantages of the system. For example, if you want to do a passive antenna measurement at 20 frequency points, the measurement itself will take less than 5 minutes. Keep in mind that oversampling, pre and post processing time is not included in this number. Similar measurement performed with standard roll-over-azimuth system is likely to take at least 20-30 minutes.

  • Passive Mode

Antenna efficiency and pattern measurements can be performed in passive mode, this is when the RF signal from an external source is injected directly into antenna through a coaxial probe.

Passive mode measurements are performed when we want to get just antenna characteristics, with the rest of device RF chain excluded from the measurement. This setup is particularly useful in early stages of product development when hardware and software functionality is not completely developed yet.

  • Active Mode

We can perform active mode measurements for cellular systems (2G/3G/4G) as well as for non-cellular protocols (BT, Wi-Fi).

Active mode measurements take the complete RF system into consideration, so other components, such as filters, amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, influence the measurement results. This type of measurement characterizes device in way much closer to real user case.

  • TX and RX

In Satimo we can perform radiated transmitter (TX) and receiver (RX) measurements. TX measurements reflect how well the device is able to send out RF signals. The TX performance is dependent, among other things, on antenna design, transmitter characteristics, and amplifier performance. RX measurements show how well the device is able to receive RF signals. RX performance is also vitally dependent on antenna characteristics, receiver and amplifier performance as well as on the level of internal noise.

  • ECC

For multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna system we offer the possibility to perform correlation measurements (Envelope Correlation Coefficient). Correlation is a parameter showing how independent antennas constituting MIMO system are. Independent antennas (= low correlation coefficient) lead to higher system data rates.

What can we do for you?

In this lab have the capability to measure every product that has an antenna, which means products like mobile phones, Smart-TV’s, Wireless light-bulbs, Wi-Fi routers, Smart Watches and the list goes on.
